2019/20 Financial Statements Deadline Extension

Due to the challenges that Covid-19 has presented, the ESFA have been constantly monitoring their demands of academy trusts, especially when it comes to the submission of their financial statements.

The latest update to come from the recent Letter to Accounting Officers confirms that they have provided the trusts with additional time to report on their financial performance for the year during what has been an incomparable period for all schools. Extensions to be aware of include, the audited financial statements for the year ending 31st August 2020 being submitted by 31st January 2021 instead of 31st December 2020, as well as the corresponding accounts return which has now been moved to 23rd February 2021 instead of 19th January 2021. The extension that is being offered only relates to the financial year ending 31^st August 2020, with all deadlines reverting to their normal position for 2021.
