The DfE will claim back funding that has not been accounted for!

This information is mandatory for all schools in the Spring & Summer Census.

Learner Funding & Mentoring for Primary Schools

As a result of the Covid Pandemic the government created several extra funding streams one of those is the Recovery Premium. This funding will support school-led tutoring for disadvantaged pupils where their learning has been disrupted by COVID-19. Schools have the flexibility to appoint their own tutor to provide tutoring to pupil’s dependent on their needs and are asked to prioritise pupils in receipt of pupil premium, although schools have the flexibility to support pupils that need it most.

The census is gathering data on how the Recovery Premium is being used.

There are two items of data gathered.

  • In receipt of School led Tutoring Yes or No.
  • This does not include tuition provided by the National Tutoring Programme.
  • Total number of hours received by the student of school led tuition from the beginning of the year to the census date.
  • This data is only mandatory for the Spring and Summer Census.
  • This does mean the school needs a means of capturing this information so that the data can be easily added at the census dates.
  • In SIMS this could be with the use of the module called interventions.
