Here’s our update on the latest guidance for the SIMS Spring 2024 School Census, the first of the new year!
- Census date 18/01/2024
- Attendance collected from the start of the Autumn Term to 31/12/23
- Exclusions collected from 10/04/2023 to 31/12/2023
- Free School Meal Eligibility collected from 06/10/2023 to 18/01/2024
- Alternative Provision Placements collected from 05/10/2023 to 18/01/2024
- Funding and Monitoring collected from 01/08/2023 to 18/01/2024

The Spring 2024 Census collects information relating to the class activity that all pupils undertake at a selected time on Census Day. The selected time is based on the last digit of a school’s DfE number as follows:
| Last digit of the School DfE number | Selected time |
|---|---|
| 2, 3 or 6 | the selected time is one hour after the start of afternoon school |
| 4, 7, 8 or 9 | the selected time is one hour after the start of morning school |
| 0, 1 or 5 | the selected time is one hour before the end of morning school |
Fileset
The latest fileset is now available - Download Fileset 2604 >
Then open SIMS and go to Tools | Setups | Import and click the yellow folder button to browse to the fileset, simply highlight it and choose Open then use the Import Fileset button.
Please note: As normal there will be updated fileset’s periodically, so check back here for the latest one!
Remember, you'll need to close and open SIMS again for it to take effect.
