Upcoming changes in the Capita SIMS 2020 Spring Release

This blog follows our recent update about the Capita FMS 2020 Spring Release.

Another term and another update to SIMS. It's almost as if they're scheduled this way or something! It's not a massive release this time but it does come with a few nice extras to make your life easier.

Without further ado, here's a quick run down of what we think are the most important and useful bits in the Capita SIMS 2020 Spring Release. Usually we'd also be able to share with you the release notes as well, but sadly only the beta ones are available. Keep checking out the blog and we'll update this with a download once it's available, most likely this Friday when the release comes out for real.

Assessment

Updates to EYFS, Phonics, and KS Wizards to match new statutory responsibilities.

Attendance

Small change to help with GDPR compliance. Stops the showing of personal information in some attendance reports by making the tickbox default off rather than on!

Exams

You can now report on exams access arrangements in SIMS and you can also see these on the student record (although you'll still have to make changes in Exams Organiser as usual)

Census

The bit I know you're all most excited about! Makes the summer school census show up (although probably a bit early to start working on it!)

SIMS Core

You can now import pupil/student email addresses from within SIMS! Much easier than when we had to muck around with before. Also a little one for 6th Forms and independents, you can now import the university placements from UCAS to help your reporting.

What's next?

Our Service Desk will be making contact with all of our schools where we carry out your upgrades to book a date in, but as always we would be very happy if you can call us first! We advise that you book the upgrade in for the night before your ICT staff are onsite for the rare occurrence where things go wrong!
