The SIMS Web Address file has been updated

The SIMS Web Address Validation (WAV) Service allows schools to validate addresses in SIMS by accessing a Capita maintained database over the Internet.

The database, which contains the details of approximately 30 million UK addresses, has just been updated with the latest Ordnance Survey data.

Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRN)

Although the database has always contained the UPRN (Unique Property Reference Number) until now, it has not been necessary to bring it into SIMS. However, this will be fixed in the SIMS Summer upgrade later this year, in readiness for the Autumn Census.

Do you use Web Address Validation to validate your addresses?

If you’re not sure, you can check by looking at the address of one of your pupils. If it says (Validated) after Current Home Address Details like this example, then you do:

Haven’t got WAV in your school but would like it?

SBS will apply the relevant patches to all schools in the summer. However, if you would like to have this made available before then, please contact our service desk to log a request.
