SIMS Maintaining the Timetable (using Nova T6)
SBS has created a remotely delivered training course called SIMS Remote – Maintaining the timetable to enable a member of the school team to maintain the timetable on a day to day basis.
A. Introduction to Nova-T – 45 minutes (Demonstration of Nova-T).
After this tutorial you will know how to open the program Nova T, understand the purpose of all menus in Nova, Understand which steps need to be done when.

- Permissions required and how to start
- Tour of all menus in Nova T
- Introduction to Key concepts and when they are done
- How to install SIMS on a laptop
B. How does Nova – T link into SIMS 45 mins (Demonstration using Nova and SIMS).
This demonstration will explore how Nova integrates with SIMS, gain an understanding of the impact of Nova on Assessment, Exams and the Post 16 Census and the impact on 6th form funding.

Making Changes – 90 Minutes (Demonstration and Practical Exercise).
This session will provide the delegates the basic skills to maintain a school timetable over the academic year.
- How to change the room and teacher of a class
- Adding additional teachers to classes
- Dealing with the arrival of new teachers
- Changing PPA Sessions
- Changing break duties
- Changing the teachers/rooms in Alternative Curriculum
- Dealing with Carousels
- Sending the timetable to SIMS
- Printing Timetables
Target audience
Staff in secondary schools with responsibility for maintaining the timetable.
Knowledge required
Prior knowledge of Nova T6 is helpful but not assumed. Knowledge of academic management also useful.
